Near Sunnymeads station we are ideally suited for anyone based in Berkshire, West London, North Surrey and then on to the Thames Valley. Close to Datchet, Slough, Staines, Windsor we are reached easily from Ashford, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing and Greenford to the East as we are close to the M4/ M25 junction. From the North and West we have members from Maidenhead, Burnham, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerards Cross and the Chalfonts.

Our sailing water is a delight for all standards of sailors, especially those with families, as almost the whole lake is clearly visible from Race Control and the club house. See our photo gallery.

Sail for fun

Our season of "Sail for fun" days has now started. We are open every day and encourage sailing for all (not just racers) particularly on Sundays when we have our safety boats on the water.
As an added focus, we have identified one day each month for you to put in your diaries when you can expect others to be around to share the enjoyment. Make a note now.

15 June, 6 July (Club regatta), 20 July, 10 August, 7 September.

2008 AGM

The AGM was on Sunday 3 Feb after the lunchtime race.

This meeting was more important than usual.

Why?

Because the Club's Development Plan was up for discussion.

Click here for details of the updated club development plan.

What's a Development Plan?

Any club needs to satisfy the current members first and build a platform for
encouraging others to joins us so as to ensure a rosy future. We have
great facilities for family sailors, and a friendly atmosphere to go with it.
We would like more people to enjoy it. The club Development Plan is
directed to that end; to provide a basis on which we can attract funding to
help our efforts to spread the word about the enjoyment of sailing. We
would like to increase our training ability/ capacity as well.

The Proposed Rule Change concerning membership types was carried. You can see the proposal here.

The AGM was followed by the annual prize giving ceremony. Details of all prizes are here.

Boxing Day

Our traditional Boxing Day race for the massive Nick King trophy was held on

Sunday 3rd February.

Dutyman

"DutyMan" is the name of an internet-based system that manages clubs' duty rosters:

  • Duty rosters on the web Our club's duty roster is published on the web and linked to our club website so that everyone with web access can easily check it. The roster automatically reflects duty swaps. Quick and easy on-line editing means our roster is always up to date.
  • Emailed duty reminders Reminders are automatically emailed to members before each of their duties.
  • Interactive duty swapping Members who need to swap duties can request swaps via email with just a few clicks. When a swap request is accepted all involved with the duty are automatically informed. To see a swap email click here.

Please visit the website: www.dutyman.biz to find out more.

Winter is upon us - but sailing continues!

With March comes the Spring quarter's series. A new set of races for you to enter, qualify and win! Some of the best sailing happens whilst the leaves are off the trees and a truer wind blows. Two races each Sunday, 10:30 and 12:30. Lunch available and the bar is open.

As ever buoyancy is compulsory. For this series, with the colder water, we strongly recommend a wet suit with spray top or dry suit, sailing gloves and a beanie hat to keep your head warm. Apart from that, come and join in, you will find a warm welcome!

Laser Open, 9 Sept 2007

Light winds prevailed, but 21 boats had a great and tiring day's sailing.

Results are here (pdf format).

Optimist Open, Saturday 23 June 2007

A warm welcome was given to all our visitors.

You will locate the results here....

...and the report is here.

Open Day

The Club Open day was on Sunday 29 April. Do not worry if you missed it as we are delighted to see visitors any Sunday, say around midday.

Here's a leaflet for you. If you are a member, please pop one in your neighbour's letterbox.

Commodore's message - I thought I would just say a great thank you to everyone who helped to make Open Day a real success.

I, for one, had a great time and our Senior Officer of the Day was wondering if we were breaking any recent records on the number of boats competing in the 10:30 race! To anyone who wasn't there, you missed out on a great party and some very enjoyable sailing. Thank goodness we had the new pontoons to cope with all the extra traffic.

WLSC Oppies International success at Dutch Easter regatta

Great international success for Wraysbury in Holland where Oliver Cooper won the "Silver Fleet" (mid ranked 90 competitors after six race round robin type series) and Chris Taylor won the "Bronze Fleet" (bottom 90 competitors after six race round robin type series) ... all very complicated but great results and great fun.

Congratulations to all.
